The framework

Three disciplines. One character.

I · Move

Move

Soma · the body

Calisthenics and cardio you can do anywhere, no gym required. A progression that meets you where you are and moves you forward, every other day, no guesswork.

II · Still

Still

Stillness · the mind

Guided meditation by text and visual, not another voice in your headphones. Sit, breathe, and steady yourself. Daily. Ten minutes that change the other twenty-three hours.

III · Think

Think

Stoa · philosophy

A daily passage of practical philosophy, the Stoics and those who came after, to sharpen how you decide and carry yourself. Read it. Reflect. Apply it before the day tests you.

Healthy body. Steady mind. Character worth aspiring to. That's the whole package, and the whole point.

Train.Sit.Read.

How it works

Follow the framework.
Keep the promise.

Your rhythm, your choice.

Train in the morning, sit at night, read before bed, or the reverse. The framework sets the standard; you set the schedule. (Move every other day; meditate and read every day.)

Every day counts.

Show up and it adds up, a visible record of a life practised with intention, one honest day at a time.

You're not doing this alone.

Your practice lives inside the community. Consistency is seen, respected, and matched.

The name

Soma The body
Stoa The Stoic porch

Soma means ‘body’ in ancient Greek. The stoa was the painted porch in Athens where the Stoics taught their lessons, and the root of the word Stoic itself. Body and mind named as one thing, because they were never meant to be two.

Why it exists

This helped me overcome. I built it so it could do the same for you.

When I left the military, I lost so much more than I first anticipated. Not only did I miss the brotherhood, but I had lost the structure in my life. There is a surprising comfort to be found in being told what to do, when to do it and exactly what equipment you will need for the task. In a sense, I felt I had also lost my identity. I didn't know who I was without the army. It was a dark time.

I won't lie, after the initial excitement wore off from spending time with civilian friends and family, I sank into a deep depression. My plans of being an entrepreneur were proving far more difficult than I expected and not finding success in my own endeavours added to the stress. A day didn't go by where I didn't think of killing myself. I knew I couldn't do that to my loved ones. I had to find a way out.

That's when I realised it's simply a matter of brain chemistry and frame of mind. In the army, I was a machine, I prided myself on my ability to outrun, 'outlift' and 'outsoldier' most of my colleagues. Then why wasn't I holding the same discipline now I was a civvy? It seems obvious now, but at the time in my mind there were more pressing matters to attend to. I started training again. Within 6 months I reclaimed my strength and cardio. No gym required, calisthenics and running was all it took. At the same time, I committed to reading philosophy and trying to understand the 'art of living'. Learning from great minds like Socrates and Marcus Aurelius, who were also soldiers and military commanders, helped me rationalise my existence and my duty to the common good.

These two actions alone kept me in the game, but something was missing. I still didn't feel like the calm, confident, happy person I used to be. In everything I attempted, I still had a feeling of imposter syndrome. This went on for 2 years. It wasn't until I started to meditate that I fully realised who I was and what my place was in this cosmic dance.

Brothers and sisters, I have developed this app with the sole intention of helping you realise your full potential.

The company you keep

Discipline is easier when something holds you to it.

My time in the military showed me the power of peer review and accountability. People tend to work a lot harder when they're being watched, as reputation is a powerful motivator. This is your chance to prove your worth, not only to a community of like-minded individuals, but more importantly, to yourself.

No man is more unhappy than he who never faces adversity. For he is not permitted to prove himself.
Seneca, On Providence
